Off-duty NYPD cop killed by drunk driver
An away-duty NYPD officer was killed in a Long Island hap involving a drunken driver, authorities reported Monday.
Officer Kevin Jessup, 25, was driving his Maxima ~ward the Southern State Parkway early Sunday spring-time when he was struck near Bethpage Parkway through a car driven by Jonathan Lopez, who in addition struck another car, authorities said.
Lopez, 20, of East Meadow, was charged through vehicular manslaughter and DWI in the 5:30 a.m. belonging.
Jessup died at the scene. A woman in his car, Crystal Simons, 30, suffered unimportant injuries, as did the driver of the third car.
Jessup joined the NYPD in 2008.
