Motorcyclist dies during rescue attempt mishap
A City College learner died Thursday after firefighters accidentally dropped a car forward him while trying to rescue him from a motorcycle blight, sources and family said.
Karam Rampersaud, 21, smashed his motorcycle into a Ford Taurus that turned in anterior of him on Loring Rd. at Forbell St. hind part before 8:45 a.m., cops and parents and children said.
Rampersaud fell from his bike and got wedged in a state of being liable to the car, officials said.
Firefighters deployed airbags to lifting the car off Rampersaud and draw him to safety, sources said. But the car dropped and landed back in c~tinuance the injured man, his family said.
The Guyana-born Rampersaud was taken to Brookdale University Hospital, at what place he later died from his injuries, house said.
It’s unclear if the ruinous injuries came from the car essence dropped or from the original crash.
“I’m not going against them,” Rampersaud’s grandfather, Anirude Singh, said of the firefighters.
“They keep a lot of lives. But the same mistake. Lifting a car off a servant is not like lifting a cardboard box – a car is weighty .”
Singh, 75, said his grandson dreamed of pretty a college professor.
“I’m in the way that shocked,” Singh said. “He was a dexterous kid – a very, very good kid. He was independent, very obedient, fond, caring. He always had a smiling sur~.”
A FDNY source said the happening is being investigated.
“There is a ~al of the operations of the circumstance,” the source said.
