10 Places to Go for a Late Night Out in Queens

Around the world, people know New York as the city that never sleeps. The number of music venues, bars and clubs throughout the five boroughs certainly attests to a nightlife that keeps the party going well into the wee hours.

For late-night entertainment, look no further than the culturally vibrant borough of Queens. After dinner or a day of visiting top attractions (Citi Field, Rockaway Beach, a host of museums), hop on a train or take a short cab ride to your next adventure. Whether you’re after a thumping nightclub, global bites, specialty cocktails or somewhere to watch the big game in the company of others, you can stay late at these great spots.

718 Bar & Grill

Where: 72-13 Austin St., Forest Hills
How late: Nightly to 3am

This lounge in Forest Hills is a local favorite. The bar offers a great mix of specialty cocktails and an assortment of hookah flavors. The music is always a vibe: DJs spin a combination of hip-hop, reggaeton, dancehall, R&B and house. You’ll occasionally find a cover charge at the door.

The Bonnie

Where: 29-12 23rd Ave., Astoria
How late: Monday–Thursday to midnight; Friday and Saturday to 2am

Garden ping-pong? Check. Cozy bar? Yes. Family-friendly? Perhaps surprising but true. Food past 10pm? That seals the deal. This lively joint opened in 2014 and quickly became an Astoria favorite. Come for the tasty local beers and craft cocktails and stay for the live music late into the night.

Break Bar and Billiards

Where: 32-04 Broadway, Astoria
How late: Monday–Wednesday and Sunday to 1am; Thursday to 2am; Friday and Saturday to 4am

Astoria has a wide array of food and nightlife options; for something sporty, this popular pool hall delivers. Enjoy drink specials while you play pool, Skee-Ball, arcade basketball or board games. You can also catch whatever matchup might be on ESPN.

Doha Bar Lounge

Where: 38-34 31st St., Long Island City
How late: Thursday and Sunday to 2am; Friday and Saturday to 4am

No NYC nightlife list would be complete without Doha Bar and Lounge. This is one of the most popular borough spots for festive cocktails, elevated pub grub and getting out on the dance floor. Their late-night bites (think wings, pizzas, burgers and empanadas) will keep you energized for an evening of partying.

La Boom

Where: 56-15 Northern Blvd., Woodside
How late: Friday–Sunday to 4am

If you’ve ever wanted to party in a wrestling ring, La Boom will make your dreams a reality. The spacious nightclub doubles as a wrestling arena on certain nights, but there’s no chance that you’ll have to enter the ring with a heavyweight champion. There is, however, a likelihood you’ll dance into the wee hours to a playlist of pulsing Spanglish tunes. There are sometimes live performances from acts like regional Mexican band Tierra Cali and top-selling bachata artist Antony Santos.

Lowkey Garden Lounge

Where: 70-15 Austin St., Forest Hills
How late: Monday–Thursday to midnight; Friday–Sunday to 2am

This recent addition to Forest Hills is sure to be the perfect cap to your night. Aside from its rotating crop of DJs and late-night nibbles like birria tacos and short rib arepas, Lowkey Garden Lounge is known for its chic, über-Instagrammable decor. The open-air patio has a casual vibe and is a great spot to cool down (and snap some photos). Walk-ins are accepted, but for large groups (eight or more), we recommend you call ahead. Be advised that wearing baseball caps, shorts or overly casual attire may get you stopped at the door.

Mamajuana Cafe Queens

Where: 33-15 56th St., Woodside
How late: Restaurant hours Monday–Thursday and Sunday to 10pm; Friday and Saturday to 11pm; club hours Friday and Saturday to 4am

Mamajuana has a few locations across the City and beyond. The Queens entry is a popular Latin restaurant and nightclub that remixes old-time Dominican culture for a contemporary crowd. Enjoy authentic bites from cuisines of the Spanish-speaking Caribbean and South America and then stay as the restaurant transforms into a nightclub with live music and hookah. Mamajuana is also known for its happening brunches, so you can enjoy some of the fun during the day. Be sure to call ahead and make a reservation.

Queens Night Market

Where: Outside the New York Hall of Science, Flushing Meadows Corona Park
How late: Saturdays (seasonal, roughly May through October), 5pm to midnight

Queens Night Market has an ideal location—outdoors, in the borough’s largest park. The family-friendly night market is a summer and early fall staple, full of local, independent vendors selling clothes, food and original art. The market is free to enter and stays open until midnight.

The Rockaway Hotel and Spa

Where: 108-10 Rockway Beach Dr., Rockaway Beach
How late: Friday–Sunday as late as midnight

This trendy hotel has become a hot spot since it opened in 2020. Though the pool is accessible to locals with day passes (Monday to Thursday) and the ground-floor restaurant is open to all for dinner and drink specials, it’s the Rooftop Bar that’s the real jewel. Enjoy gorgeous views of the Manhattan skyline while dancing to live DJs (7pm–close on Fridays and Saturdays) or reggae (5pm–close on Sundays). The kitchen closes at 9pm, but the bar stays open as long as the crowd stays popping.

Sammy’s Halal Food Cart

Where: 73rd Street and Broadway, Jackson Heights
How late: All night (daily, 24 hours)

For late-night (or early morning) bites, Sammy’s in Jackson Heights has you covered; it offers round-the-clock snacks. Halal carts are Queens staples, and Sammy’s is a reliable spot for falafel, gyros and chicken and rice platters.
